IF ONLY YOU'D KNOWN!

Ever been away on a break or holiday to find that someone else had been there before and found out the pit falls but you didn't know?

You can use this page to tell all. If you come across a glitch in paperwork requirements or some places to avoid or on the other hand some great places to stay let us know we'll put them here for all to see.

1. UK PETS scheme, MAFF don't appear to be making it clear as well as all the paperwork you need to get back DON'T forget you need an EXPORT HEALTH CERTIFICATE to get into France and some other countries.

2. UK PETS scheme, as things are at the moment P&O are streets ahead in terms of understanding the new rules and efficiency Brittany Ferries on the other hand haven't left the carpark. Euro tunnel (Le Shuttle) is ready to start on the 28th.I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE

All is going relatively smoothly. Although some companies are notably more together than others. P&O and Eurotunnel are out on top with Brittany Ferries trailing.

3. Travel to Eire (Southern Ireland) under PETS scheme you can't enter direct from the continent. There is talk of an Irish scheme to date no real info but i'll let you know when I do. You can enter the UK and enter Eire from a Uk entry point as long as your pet has valide documentation for the PETS scheme.

4. Channel Islands still not able to clarify this but same applies as for Eire. You can't enter directly from France but nothing to stop you going via the UK with a valid entry under the PETS scheme. There is more on this one coming soon.

UPDATE

A system will be in place soon for entry via one of the ferry companies into St Helier, let you know as soon as I have confirmed the details.

5. Don't forget to book the ferries early especially if you are travelling with pets Max allowed on the cross channel ferries is 12.
